Goree Island and Lac Rose Private Trip

Discover both the fascinating history and beautiful landscapes of Senegal when you take our day trip to Goree Island and Lac Rose.

Trip Details

At the indicated time, we'll collect you from your hotel and proceed to the port of Dakar. A ferry will take us to Goree Island.

As we explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site, you'll learn about its role in the Atlantic slave trade. Our first stop is the House of Slaves, used as a prison and market for slaves. We will then stroll through narrow streets lined with colonial houses and reach the historic fort for panoramic views of the coastline. Afterward, we will board the ferry back to Dakar, where a bus will take us to Lac Rose (the Pink Lake), known for being the last stage of the Paris-Dakar Rally until 2008.

We will take a 4x4 vehicle for a tour of the lake's surroundings. You will see the pink waters of Lac Rose and the sand dunes that separate it from the Atlantic Ocean.

Before returning to Saly, we will enjoy a dip in the lake, where floating is easy due to the high salt content. The tour concludes 10.5 hours later at the starting point.

Bathing in Lac Rose

We will only bathe in Lac Rose if there is sufficient time. You'll have 15 minutes to enjoy the salty, pink waters.

Please Note

Due to heavy rains in summer 2024, the lake has retained much water and lost its color. Salt extraction and activities have resumed, but the lake's color has not returned yet.
