Why visit the Ensérune site?
Positioned atop a hill in the Roman oppidum style, the Ensérune archaeological site is a significant destination in the Hérault region of Occitania. Your entrance ticket allows you to explore the remnants of this settlement, including the remains of a silo, formerly a vital grain storage facility.
Your ticket also includes entry to the Ensérune Archaeological Museum, which spans seven centuries of history of the Mediterranean-region settlement, influenced by Celts, Iberians, Greeks, Etruscans, and Romans. The museum features models and 3-D reconstructions of the archaeological remains and a recreated workspace of Felix Mouret, the archaeologist of the 1916 excavation.
Additionally, visitors will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views from the Ensérune site, stretching from the Cévennes to the Pyrenees and the vast Languedoc plain toward the Mediterranean coast.
Opening hours
The Ensérune archaeological site operates during the following times:
April to September: Daily except Mondays (excluding holidays), from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and 2 pm to 6:30 pmOctober to March: Wednesday to Sunday, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and 2 pm to 5:30 pm
Last admission is one hour before closing. On December 24 and 31, closing time is 4 pm. Schedules may vary.
