On this route on the Train of the Alps, we will depart from Nice and travel through the Var Valley, a notable area in the South of France.
Tour Description
At the appointed time, we will meet at the Gare des Chemins de Fer de Provence train station. Our first stop is Entrevaux, where you will explore the Royal Citadel, accessible via a 150-step staircase, and enjoy views from the medieval drawbridge. We will also visit a baroque cathedral.
After lunch at a local restaurant, we will continue by train to a nearby medieval village known for its troglodyte features. A scenic 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) walk through an ancient chestnut forest awaits. This route requires decent physical fitness.
Depending on the group's pace, we will select between a shorter 4-kilometer hike or a longer 8-kilometer circuit. You will enjoy the fresh air of the Alps while exploring the forest.
Finally, we will take the Alpine Train back to the departure station in Nice, concluding this approximately 13.5-hour excursion.
Early Return
If you prefer, after visiting the Entrevaux citadel and having lunch, you can return on your own to Nice, without the guide, with an expected arrival around 4 pm.
