Description

At the scheduled time, we will convene at 815 Toulouse Street to embark on this guided tour throughout the French Quarter of New Orleans. Prepare to unveil the highlights of the French Quarter while delving into the history of the Vieux Carré. From the expansive Mississippi River to historic buildings that predate the nation, you'll quickly recognize the allure that draws people back to this vibrant city time and again.

The first destination on our itinerary is Bourbon Street, renowned for its lively bars, stretching an impressive 13 blocks! During our walk, you will uncover the intriguing origins of this world-famous area. Our knowledgeable guide will highlight the best dining spots, bars, and secret treasures that should not be missed.

Continuing our journey, we will stroll along Royal Street, an original thoroughfare established in the early 18th century. Presently, it boasts a rich selection of art galleries, antique boutiques, and charming hotels. Next, we will pass by the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, housed in a classic townhouse from 1822-1823. This building once served as the home of the very first licensed pharmacist in the United States.

A prominent site during our walk will be the St. Louis Cathedral, an iconic landmark in the French Quarter and the oldest Catholic church in the nation. Nearby, we will observe the Cabildo, which was once the center of colonial governance in Louisiana.

As we explore, our focus will not only be on the city's architectural elements, but also on their cultural significance – tracing their origins and the intentions of their designers. We will discuss the diverse individuals who have shaped the city's identity through its distinct food, music, and festivals, right down to the vibrant hues of its homes.

Additionally, we will dive into intriguing subjects like Voodoo and Mardi Gras, addressing all of your curious inquiries. What is the essence of lagniappe? How do Creole and Cajun differ? And did the Virgin Mary truly play a role in New Orleans' Super Bowl victory? All these questions will be answered as we proceed!

After approximately two hours of discovering the wonders of the French Quarter, we will conclude our tour at Jackson Square. Looking forward to our next adventure together!
