On this guided tour of the French Quarter of New Orleans, we'll explore the colonial buildings in the oldest part of the city.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at 815 Toulouse Street and start our guided tour of the French Quarter. We will discover the must-see spots and learn about the history of the Vieux Carré. The tour will include aspects from the Mississippi River to historical buildings, showcasing why the city captivates visitors.
Our first stop will be Bourbon Street, known for its bars over 13 blocks. As we stroll, you will learn about the city's fascinating beginnings and discover the best bars, restaurants, and hidden gems.
Next, we will walk along Royal Street, one of the original streets from the 18th century, recognized for its art galleries, antique shops, and hotels. We will also pass by the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, originally constructed in 1822-1823, which was the residence of the first licensed pharmacist in the US.
You will also see the St. Louis Cathedral, the oldest Catholic church in the US, and the Cabildo, the seat of colonial power in Louisiana.
Throughout the walk, we will discuss the cultural impact of architecture, the people behind the city's development, as well as topics like Voodoo, Mardi Gras, lagniappe, and the differences between Creole and Cajun. After approximately 2 hours, the tour will conclude at Jackson Square.
