On this guided tour of the French Quarter of New Orleans, we will explore colonial buildings in the city's oldest section.

Description

We will meet at 815 Toulouse Street at the specified time to begin our guided tour of the French Quarter. Discover essential sites in the French Quarter and learn about the history of the Vieux Carré. Experience landmarks from the Mississippi River to unique locales that contribute to the city’s allure.

Our first stop will be Bourbon Street, known for its bars and spanning 13 blocks. During our stroll, our guide will share the history of this neighborhood and highlight the best bars, restaurants, and hidden gems.

We will also walk along Royal Street, one of the original streets from the early 18th century, now famous for art galleries and antique shops. We will pass by the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, a historic townhouse built in 1822-1823, once home to the first licensed pharmacist in the US.

Next, we will see the St. Louis Cathedral, the oldest Catholic church in the United States, along with the Cabildo, the former seat of colonial authority in Louisiana.

In addition to discussing architecture, we’ll cover its cultural significance, exploring contributions to the city’s food, music, and festivals. Topics will include Voodoo, Mardi Gras, and local customs like lagniappe. The tour lasts approximately 2 hours and will conclude at Jackson Square.
