Copahue Volcano Hike

On this hike up the Copahue Volcano, we will tackle the climb to one of the most impressive and active craters in the Andes.

Hike Details

We will pick you up from your hotel in Caviahue and drive in an off-roading vehicle to the Copahue Volcano hike's starting point.

Upon arrival, we will put on our walking shoes, grab hiking sticks, and begin the ascent. During this part of the hike, we will notice the fumaroles of this constantly active crater, recognized as the most active volcano in the Andean region in recent decades.

Moving into the second phase, we will discuss the research significance of Copahue Volcano for both Chilean and Argentine research centres. We will then continue into the third and final hiking stage, where we will reach the El Arenal area, use hard hats, and push toward the summit.

The surrounding peaks and the smell of sulphur will indicate our approach to the crater's lagoon. You will have 30 minutes of free time to rest and enjoy a warm drink while taking in the view.

After this break, we will descend and return to Caviahue in our off-roading vehicle, concluding our adventure back at your hotel after a total of 8 hours.
