Embark on this day trip to Las Máquinas, where you will traverse natural boiling springs and fumaroles, culminating with a visit to the hot springs of Callos Lagoon. Experience the vibrant life emerging from the Earth's depths!
Trip Overview
Are you ready to feel the Earth's energy? We'll start by picking you up from your accommodation in Caviahue and head northeast towards Copahue.
As we journey, a brief stop at the Mirador de Caviahue awaits, offering stunning views of the magnificent Copahue Volcano and the adjacent lake. Prepare to be captivated by these picturesque landscapes!
Continuing our expedition, in about 30 minutes, we will arrive at Las Máquinas. Here, you can explore fumaroles and boiling springs. The area is intriguingly named Las Máquinas (The Machines) due to the sound produced by the earth, reminiscent of steam engines. It’s truly a remarkable location!
Following our exploration, we will visit the historic Bustillo Inn, where remnants of the first geothermal power plant in South America can be found. We'll take a closer look at the old geothermal well and delve into its intriguing yet troubled history. Can you guess what happened?
Next, we will head to the village of Copahue to experience Agua de Limón (Lemon Water), a natural hot spring known for its laxative properties. To conclude our adventure, we will head to Callos Lagoon in the Thermal Complex of Copahue. You will have 45 minutes of leisure time to soak your feet in the therapeutic warm waters originating from volcanic activity.
We will then return to Caviahue, concluding our journey with goodbyes at your hotel after approximately 4 hours.
