Hike Details
After picking you up from your hotel in Caviahue, we'll begin our journey to Copahue and start our hiking trail to Hito Copahue.
Before beginning our trek, we'll get ready at Copahue's thermal resort. The 6-kilometre (3.7-mile) hike takes us past fossilised lava rocks originating from the crater. Along the way, we will explain the geological processes that created the unique scenery.
The trail winds through the characteristic semi-desert plain of the region, passing by streams from snowmelt, and we may cross snowy areas.
Upon reaching the boundary marker X-5, known as Hito Copahue, you'll be at the natural frontier between Argentina and Chile, surrounded by snowy peaks and arid hills. You can place one foot in each country and we'll enjoy a comforting warm drink before heading back.
On our descent, we will visit Callos Lagoon at Copahue hot springs to dip our toes into the warm water of volcanic origin. After a total of 5 hours, we'll return to your hotel in Caviahue.
