Hike Details
We will pick you up from your hotel in Caviahue to start our journey to Copahue, where we will begin our hiking trail to Hito Copahue.
The trek will start in Copahue's thermal resort, leading us through arid landscapes at the base of the Copahue Volcano. This 6-kilometre (3.7-mile) adventure includes passing fossilised lava rocks from the crater, with explanations about the geological processes that shaped the scenery.
We will continue along the trail through the semi-desert plain characteristic of the region, observing streams from snowmelt and possibly crossing snowy areas.
Upon reaching Hito Copahue, the boundary marker X-5, you'll stand at the natural frontier between Argentina and Chile, surrounded by snowy peaks and arid hills. A warm drink will be provided to celebrate before we begin our return journey.
On our descent, we will visit Callos Lagoon at the Copahue hot springs to dip our toes into the warm volcanic pool. After a total of 5 hours, we will return to your hotel in Caviahue.
