Hike Details
After picking you up from your hotel in Caviahue, we'll begin our journey to Copahue, where we'll start our hike to Hito Copahue.
We will prepare in Copahue's thermal resort before trekking through arid landscapes near the Copahue Volcano. The hike covers 6 kilometres (3.7 miles) and includes passing by fossilised lava rocks. Along the way, we'll discuss the geological processes that formed the unique scenery.
The trail winds through a semi-desert plain with scattered bushes, streams from snowmelt, and possibly snowy areas.
We'll reach Hito Copahue, the boundary marker X-5 representing the natural frontier between Argentina and Chile, surrounded by snowy peaks and arid hills. You'll have the opportunity to stand in both countries. A warm drink will be provided to celebrate before our return.
On the way down, we'll visit Callos Lagoon at the Copahue hot springs to dip our toes into the warm volcanic water.
Finally, after a total of 5 hours, we'll return to your hotel in Caviahue.
