Experience a day immersed in the history and nature of three iconic locations in San Salvador. Visit the Natural Protected Area of Cerro Verde, Joya de Cerén, and San Andrés.
Description
We'll pick you up at your selected pickup point, before departing on a one-hour drive to Los Volcanes National Park.?
Upon arrival, we'll hike for 45 minutes to Cerro Verde Volcano, which is located at an altitude of 2,035 meters (6,600 feet). During the hike, you will see Santa Ana Volcano and Izalco Volcano, known as the 'Lighthouse of the Pacific.'
We will walk through a cloud forest to reach the crater near the summit of Cerro Verde, surrounded by typical plant species, including the Giant Agave. Enjoy views of Coatepeque volcanic lake, recognized as one of the most beautiful in the world.
In the afternoon, we will trek to the archaeological site of Joya de Cerén, known as the "Pompeii of America," exploring the well-preserved pre-Columbian Mayan agricultural village.
Next, we will visit the archaeological site of San Andrés, once a ceremonial and political center, exploring the structures and the remains of an indigo mill buried by the eruption of El Playón in 1658.
We will then return to San Salvador to conclude the tour.
