Mayan Route Trip
The tour begins with pickup from your selected meeting point in San Salvador. After approximately one hour, you will arrive at the archaeological site of Joya de Cerén for a 1.5-hour visit. This site, known as the "Pompeii of America," reveals a pre-Columbian Mayan village preserved by volcanic ash.
Next, travel 20 minutes to San Andrés, where you will take a one-hour tour of the site featuring intact structures and the iconic area known as La Campana, reflecting life for Mayan nobility around 600 A.D.
Proceed to the ancient city of Santa Ana for another hour to explore archaeological remains from the pre-classic period. The visit includes key locations such as the Theater, Municipal Palace, and the Gothic-style Cathedral.
The journey continues to the archaeological site of Tazumal, approximately 30 minutes away, where you'll spend one hour exploring the largest pyramid in El Salvador and learning about its historical significance.
