Discover the natural jewel of San Salvador through a hike to the Santa Ana Volcano. Learn about the devastating eruption of 2005 as you approach the crater, and admire the landscape from the summit, including hills, lakes, and volcanoes.
Santa Ana Volcano Hike
After pickup from your selected meeting point in San Salvador, we will travel to a national park area of lakes and volcanoes. The Santa Ana Volcano, also known as Llamatepec, rises 7,812 feet above sea level.
Upon reaching the foot of the volcano after an hour and a half, we will begin the trek to the third highest point in El Salvador. We will encounter panoramic viewpoints of the surrounding landscapes along the way.
At the summit, you will learn about the geology dating back around two million years, and see the crater with its green lagoon inside. Enjoy views of Coatepeque Lake and the volcanoes of Izalco and Cerro Verde, with the Pacific Ocean in the background.
After the hike, we will return to the meeting point in San Salvador.

If you prefer pickup at your hotel in San Salvador, there is a supplemental fee of 10 USD per person, payable in cash on the day of the tour. Pickup in Tunco incurs a fee of 20 USD per person.
