Óbidos Guided Tour
We will meet at the Óbidos Tourism Office at the scheduled time. Once assembled, we will begin our tour of Óbidos' interesting locations.
Our first stop is the Óbidos Town Gate, the main entrance to the town, followed by a visit to Óbidos Castle to admire its medieval military architecture. As we continue, we will experience the medieval charm of flowered houses, various churches, and communal squares.
We will also visit the Mercado Biológico Bookstore, a unique shop offering books and fresh local produce.
Next, we will head to Santa Maria Church, Óbidos' main church, which has a history dating back to the Vigothic period and underwent renovations, with the current structure from the 16th century.
Our tour continues through the Jewish Quarter and the Saõ Tiago Church Bookstore, a 12th-century church known as 'Livraria de Santiago' where books surround the altar. We will then reach a viewpoint for stunning views of the village and countryside.
The tour concludes with a tasting of Ginjinha, a traditional Portuguese liquor made by infusing berries in alcohol. We will enjoy it at a local bar in a chocolate cup while learning about its origins and cultural significance. After 2 hours of exploration and tasting, the tour will end.
