History and food are at the centre of this tour of Tunja. The beautiful capital of Colombia's Boyaca will captivate you from start to finish.

Highlights

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Tunja at the scheduled time to begin our discovery of the picturesque capital of Boyaca, whose slogan is the "Cradle and workshop of freedom."

The tour of Tunja starts at Bolívar Square, where we'll view the façade of the Cathedral of Santiago. Adjacent to this is the House-Museum of Gonzalo Suarez Rendon, where we will learn about the history of the Spanish conqueror who founded Tunja on August 6, 1593.

Next, we will visit the House-Museum of the scribe Don Juan de Vargas, associated with the colonial history of Tunja. Following this, a typical Bayocanese lunch will be served at a restaurant, including a starter, a main course of meat or fish, and a drink.

After lunch, we will head to the forest of the republic, where we will see the martyr's wall and hear stories about notable individuals from Tunja. This will be followed by a visit to the viewpoint of freedom, also known as Bolivar's Rock, providing panoramic views of Tunja.

The final stop will be at the Battle of Boyaca Bridge, where we will learn about the battle that led to the independence of the viceroyalty of New Granada. The tour is expected to take around 7 hours.
