History and food are at the centre of this tour of Tunja. The capital of Colombia's Boyacá offers an engaging experience.
Highlights
We will pick you up from your hotel in Tunja at the scheduled time to begin our discovery of Boyacá's capital, known as the "Cradle and workshop of freedom".
The tour will first take us to Bolívar Square, where we will see the façade of the Cathedral of Santiago. Nearby is the House-Museum of Gonzalo Suarez Rendon, providing insights into the history of the Spanish conqueror who established Tunja on August 6, 1593.
Next, we will visit the House-Museum of the scribe Don Juan de Vargas, focusing on another significant figure in Tunja's colonial history. Following this, we will dine at a restaurant serving a typical Bayocanese lunch, which includes a starter, a main course of meat or fish, and a drink.
After lunch, we will head to the forest of the republic, where we will see the martyr's wall and hear stories about notable Tunja residents. Then, we will visit the viewpoint of freedom, also known as Bolivar's Rock, offering panoramic views of Tunja.
The tour will conclude at the Battle of Boyacá Bridge, where we will learn about its historical significance before returning to the center of Tunja. The entire experience is expected to last around 7 hours.
