History and food are at the centre of this tour of Tunja. The capital of Colombia's Boyaca will captivate you from start to finish.

Highlights

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Tunja at the scheduled time and begin our discovery of the picturesque capital of Boyaca, known as the "Cradle and workshop of freedom".

The tour of Tunja starts at Bolívar Square, where we'll see the façade of the Cathedral of Santiago. Adjacent is the House-Museum of Gonzalo Suarez Rendon, providing insight into the history of this Spanish conqueror who founded Tunja on August 6, 1593.

Next, we visit the House-Museum of the scribe Don Juan de Vargas, another figure associated with the colonial history of Tunja. After this, we will enjoy a typical Bayocanese lunch at a restaurant, which includes a starter, a main course of meat or fish, and a drink.

Post-lunch, we head to the forest of the republic, where we will see the martyr's wall and hear stories of notable individuals from Tunja. Following this, we'll visit the viewpoint of freedom, known as Bolivar's Rock, for panoramic views of Tunja.

The final stop is the Battle of Boyaca Bridge, commemorating the battle that led to the independence of the viceroyalty of New Granada. We will learn about its historical significance before returning to the centre of Tunja.

The tour is expected to take around 7 hours.
