Olbia Archaeology Tour
At 2 pm we'll meet at Molo Brin near Olbia's marina. We'll hop into a tuk tuk and start a tour of the archaeological sites of this Sardinian city to learn about its history.
During the tour, we'll make several stops at different monuments, allowing you to explore them independently with the provided audioguide in English.
The first stop will be at the Basilica of San Simplicio, a Romanesque temple dating back to the 11th century. Next, we will visit the Roman aqueduct of Olbia, which supplied water from the nearby mountain of Cabu Abbas, followed by an ancient Roman cistern used for rainwater storage.
Before the Romans, Olbia was home to a Nuragic settlement from the Bronze Age. We'll see the ruins of the sacred well Sa Testa and the Giants' Grave of Su Mont'e s'Abe, an ancient cemetery with remarkable rocky constructions reaching 92 feet (28 meters) in height.
Finally, we'll visit the exterior of Castello di Pedres, a 13th-century castle that once featured four towers, one of which remains intact.
We'll conclude the tour at 5:30 pm at the starting point.
