Olbia Archaeology Tour
At 2 pm we'll meet at Molo Brin near Olbia's marina. We'll hop into a tuk tuk and start a tour of the archaeological sites of this Sardinian city to learn about the past of these lands.
During the tour, we'll make several stops at different monuments for you to explore them on your own with the provided audioguide in English.
The first stop will be at the Basilica of San Simplicio, an 11th-century Romanesque temple. Then we'll visit the Roman aqueduct of Olbia, which brought water to the city from Cabu Abbas. Nearby, we'll see an ancient Roman cistern for storing rainwater.
Before the Romans, the area was home to a Nuragic settlement from the Bronze Age. We'll view the sacred well Sa Testa and the Giants' Grave of Su Mont'e s'Abe, notable for its large rocky constructions reaching 92 feet (28 meters) in height.
Finally, we'll take you to the exterior of Castello di Pedres, a 13th-century castle that once had four towers, with one still preserved.
We'll finish the tour at 5:30 pm at the starting point.
