Olbia Archaeology Tour
At 2 pm we'll meet at Molo Brin near Olbia's marina. We will hop into a tuk tuk for a tour of the archaeological sites of this Sardinian city to learn about the past.
During our tour, we'll make several stops at different monuments where you can explore them on your own with the provided audioguide in English.
The first stop will be the Basilica of San Simplicio, a Romanesque temple from the 11th century. Next, we will admire the Roman aqueduct of Olbia, which supplied water from the nearby mountain of Cabu Abbas, and visit an ancient Roman cistern used for rainwater storage.
Before the Romans, Olbia was home to a Nuragic settlement from the Bronze Age. We will see the ruins of the sacred well Sa Testa and the Giants' Grave of Su Mont'e s'Abe, notable for its large stone constructions reaching 92 feet (28 meters) in height.
Finally, we will visit the exterior of Castello di Pedres, a 13th-century castle with one preserved tower from its original four.
We'll conclude the tour at 5:30 pm at the starting point.
