Ria Formosa Bird Watching

  • 2 Stunden

Enjoy the views of the lagoons and fauna in the Natural Park with this Ria Formosa Bird Watching activity. You'll see a variety of native and migratory species.

Ria Formosa Bird Watching

At the indicated time, we will meet at Avenida Dr. César Oliveira, in Fuzeta, where a boat will be waiting to enter Ria Formosa Natural Park, one of the most protected wetlands in Portugal.

Once the tide is low, we will cruise through this natural reserve in search of different species of birds, both native and migratory.

This area regularly hosts over 20,000 water birds, especially during winter. In just two hours, we will observe more than 200 different species from a few metres away. During the trip, a marine biologist will provide explanations to help identify the birds in Ria Formosa.

This adventure will also allow us to admire rare species that can only be seen in this part of Portugal, such as the Purple Swamp-hen and the Little Bittern.

The activity will conclude upon returning to the starting point 2 hours later.
