Travel to one of the rural Quechuan towns in the Peruvian Andes and learn about their cultures on this trip to the Huilloc community.
1-Day Tour
At the scheduled time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Ollantaytambo and head to the Huilloc community to experience life there. Upon arrival, members of a craftswomen's cooperative will welcome us, providing a demonstration on their textiles and their connection to Andean culture and history.
We will enjoy a lunch of Pachamanca, including chicken and potatoes or sweet potatoes. You will have the opportunity to purchase a handmade fabric souvenir from one of the craftswomen. After 6 hours, we will return to your hotel, concluding the tour.
2-Day Tour
The 2-day tour option allows for a more relaxed experience. You'll spend a full day living with a Huilloc family and spend a night in their home. Alongside learning their daily customs, you’ll visit a glacier-origin lake and interact with alpacas, important to many Andean families.
We'll share a traditional lunch of Pachamanca with the family and visit a textile market known for its Cusco crafts. After the activities, you will have time to rest. The following morning, a traditional Andean breakfast with tea, oats, eggs, potatoes, and ponche de habas will be served before returning to your hotel in Ollantaytambo.
Accommodation and food
The 2-day option includes all meals and one night of accommodation in a private bedroom within the community, allowing for deeper immersion in Huilloc culture.
