Documentary Photography Workshop

In this documentary photography workshop in Ollantaytambo, participants will explore the art of photography while discovering the last living Inca town. The workshop blends creativity with information.

Workshop Details

Participants will convene at Ollantaytambo's Armas Square, in front of the Town Council. The workshop begins with an introduction, followed by an urban exploration.

The first segment includes a photographic tour of the cobbled streets and landscapes of Ollantaytambo, allowing attendees to appreciate Inca architecture in a daily context. Participants will learn to operate their devices manually and apply the 3 basic rules of documentary photography.

Next, at the Mamá Eusebia Chicha Bar, attendees will observe the preparation of ancestral chicha, a sacred drink for the Inca people, and learn about local Andean cultural history. The focus will also be on lighting and photographing interiors.

The workshop continues through the streets of Ollantaytambo, where participants will refine their photography skills while exploring different perspectives and movements. Each corner of the village presents opportunities to capture Andean culture.

At the conclusion of this 2-hour workshop, participants will have learned to use the manual tools of their mobile device or professional camera. They will also gain insight into composition and documentary photographic design, the basic rules of photography, and the application of light, shadow, and perspective.
