Discover the best-kept secret in the province of Castellón on our day trip to the Caves of Sant Josep. We'll see a beautiful natural area as we explore these caves on foot and by boat.
Caves of Sant Josep Day Trip
At the designated time, we'll meet in front of the Oropesa del Mar Tourist Office. From there, we will drive our minibus to the Sierra Espadán Natural Park, the location of the municipality of Vall de Uxó. The Caves of Sant Josep await!
After a 50-minute drive, we'll reach the Caves of Sant Josep, the most famous natural attraction in Castellón and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We'll take a boat trip to explore the Vall de Uxó caves. While sailing on the longest underground river in Europe, we will discuss the main geological features of the caves, and you'll spot stalactites and stalagmites from the boat.
Next, we'll walk through the 250-metre (829-foot) long gallery to observe the history of this site, which was inhabited over 15,000 years ago, evidenced by cave paintings and animal bones discovered here.
After 40 minutes of exploration, we will return to the surface to admire the surrounding area. We'll then hop back on the minibus and return to Oropesa del Mar, arriving 5 hours later.
