Discover the best-kept secret in the province of Castellón on our day trip to the Caves of Sant Josep. We'll see a beautiful natural area as we explore these caves on foot and by boat.
Caves of Sant Josep Day Trip
At the designated time, we'll meet in front of the Oropesa del Mar Tourist Office. From here we'll drive our minibus to the Sierra Espadán Natural Park, where the municipality of Vall de Uxó is located. The Caves of Sant Josep await!
After a 50-minute drive, we'll reach the Caves of Sant Josep, a prominent natural attraction in Castellón and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We will take a boat trip to explore the Vall de Uxó caves, traveling along the longest underground river in Europe while discussing the main geological features. From the boat, stalactites and stalagmites can be seen.
We'll continue with a walk through the 250-metre (829-foot) long gallery to learn about the history of this location. The Caves of Sant Josep were inhabited over 15,000 years ago, as evidenced by cave paintings and animal bones found here.
After 40 minutes exploring the caves, we will return to the surface and appreciate the surrounding area. Subsequently, we’ll return to Oropesa del Mar, arriving 5 hours later.
