High cliffs on an idyllic beach, a castle built by the Knights Templar, and an exiled Pope. Get to know all the charms of Peñíscola and discover the most exciting chapters of its history with this excursion.

Peñiscola Day Trip

We'll meet at 9:15 am next to the Oropesa del Mar Tourist Office, where a minibus will be waiting to take us to Peñíscola.

After a 40-minute journey, we'll arrive at this town on the Costa del Azahar. During the guided tour, we'll visit its most famous monuments and explore how Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, and Arabs have influenced this location.

From the old artillery park, we'll view Peñíscola's northern beach and Pope Luna's castle. After taking photographs, we'll enter the fortress and learn about the historical Western Schism and the bishop who went into exile here.

The route will also include visits to the Casa de las Conchas and the Church of Santa Maria, which dates back to the 13th century.

We will explore the Bufador, a natural opening that produces a howling sound, historically believed to scare away attacking forces.

Our final stop will be at the Museum of the Sea, featuring photographs, drawings, and fishing equipment related to the town's seafaring tradition.

After visiting the museum, we will return by minibus, concluding the tour at 1:45 pm back in Oropesa del Mar.
