On this free tour of Kyoto, we'll discover the main monuments of the former capital of Japan and learn about its rich history!
Free Tour of Kyoto
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Sanjo Station to start this free tour of Kyoto.
First, we'll walk along the banks of the Kamogawa River while learning about the history of Kyoto, which served as the capital of Japan from 794 to 1868. Next, we'll visit Gion, the geisha district, to understand the role of geishas and admire traditional wooden houses built in the Machi-Ya architectural style.
Our tour will then take us to Chion-in Temple, one of the main Buddhist temples in Kyoto. After exploring its history, we'll move on to Hisashi-Yama, a significant historical area. Here, we'll uncover stories of ancient Japanese emperors and samurai warriors, known as shoguns.
After approximately 2.5 hours of exploration, our free tour will conclude in front of the Yasaka Pagoda.
