We will gather at Sanjo Station at the scheduled time to kick off our exploration of Kyoto.
Our adventure begins with a stroll along the picturesque Kamogawa River, during which we'll delve into the historical significance of Kyoto, the capital of Japan from 794 to 1868. The exploration will then lead us to the enchanting district of Gion, known for its geisha culture. Here, we will gain insights into the lives of these remarkable women and marvel at the beautifully preserved wooden structures crafted in the traditional Machi-Ya architectural style.
Next, we will proceed to Chion-in Temple, a prominent temple in Kyoto's Buddhist heritage. Following a brief history of this sacred site, our tour continues to Hisashi-Yama, a zone rich in historical significance. In this area, we will uncover intriguing tales of the ancient Japanese emperors and the legendary samurai leaders known as shoguns.
After approximately 2.5 hours of discovering the wonders of Kyoto, we will wrap up our free tour in front of the stunning Yasaka Pagoda.
