On this canoe ride on Lake San Pablo, you'll navigate in a traditional reed boat with Imbabura Volcano as your backdrop.
Canoe Ride Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Otavalo and head toward Lake San Pablo, located 10 kilometers from the town. Upon arrival, we'll learn how locals craft traditional canoes called "caballito de totora," made from reed plants found along the lake's shore. Safety measures and equipment will be provided before getting into the water. No prior experience is needed, as we will adapt to your level to ensure enjoyment.
During the 1.5-hour canoe tour, expect to see cormorants, Andean gulls, and Kentish plovers, among other species. Remember to take pictures of the unique landscapes. After the tour, we'll return to the pier for a light lunch, including a sandwich, a bottle of water, and a piece of fruit, while enjoying views of Imbabura Volcano. The entire activity lasts 3 hours before we return you to Otavalo.
Hotel Pickup
This tour includes hotel pickup for those staying in the center of Otavalo. If your hotel is outside this area, we'll contact you to arrange an alternative meeting point or coordinate a pickup at your hotel for an additional fee.
