If you are in Ouro Preto, you cannot miss this excursion to the Caraça Sanctuary, in Catas Altas. We will see a large religious complex surrounded by lush vegetation. Are you coming?

Description

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Ouro Preto to begin the excursion to the Caraça Sanctuary. The journey to Catas Altas will take approximately 2 hours.

Upon arrival, we'll see the Nossa Senhora Mãe dos Homens Church, built between 1876 and 1883, notable for being the first neo-Gothic temple in Brazil. The church features a 48-meter (157 foot) tower set against the Serra de Caraça.

Next, a walk of about 2 kilometers will lead us to Cascatinha, a 40-meter (131 foot) waterfall with natural pools. The water's yellowish color varies with rainfall due to organic matter from the mountains. You will have free time here, with the option to swim.

Afterward, we'll return to the Caraça Sanctuary complex for lunch at a local restaurant, if desired.

We'll reconvene to enter the sanctuary and access the church interior, featuring a painting of the Last Supper and the baroque image of Nossa Senhora dos Homens. Subsequently, we will explore other buildings in the complex, including the calvary, the cloister, the catacombs, and the museum.

The tour concludes with our return to your hotel in Ouro Preto, ending after 11 hours.
