Explore the city of the prophets with us on this excursion to Congonhas from Ouro Preto. Discover the secrets of this town in Minas Gerais, seeing its most emblematic monuments and visiting the museum.
Day Trip to Congonhas
At 9 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Ouro Preto and depart for Congonhas. The minibus ride will take just over an hour.
Upon arrival, we'll walk through the charming streets of this seventeenth-century town, viewing the facades of its colonial houses and approaching the Passinhos, a set of chapels with murals of the Passion of Christ.
Next, we'll visit the Sanctuary of the Good Jesus of Matosinhos, a World Heritage Site. This temple features 12 sculptures of Old Testament prophets at its entrance, created by Aleijadinho, exemplifying Brazilian Baroque.
Our final stop will be the Congonhas Museum, where you can explore the town’s history further.
The tour will conclude at 1 pm, returning you to your hotel.
