On this tour of Ouro Preto , we will explore the history of a city pivotal to Brazilian independence, covering its churches, museums, and the gold rush.

We will begin at 9 am with a hotel pickup to explore the main monuments of Ouro Preto.

Ouro Preto was previously known as Vila Rica. During our walk, we will discuss the gold rush that enriched the town in the 18th century.

We will visit the historic centre and explore three significant religious buildings, starting with the Church of San Francisco, created by renowned baroque artist Antônio Francisco Lisboa. Next, we will appreciate the interior of the Pilar Church and the Carmo Church, known for its rococo style. We will also visit the Oratory Museum, which contains over 150 religious images from the 17th to the 20th century.

A lunch break will be provided at a restaurant of your choice.

After lunch, we will proceed to the Inconfidência Museum to learn about the 1789 revolt, which pursued Brazilian independence from Portugal, coinciding with the French Revolution.

This tour concludes at 4 pm, followed by a drop-off at your hotel.
