Did you know that Chile has some of the clearest skies in the world? You'll enjoy stargazing at Las Tinajas, an archaeological site in the Hurtado River Valley.
Description
Pickup will be at 8 pm from your hotel in Ovalle, followed by a 30-minute journey to the archaeological site of Las Tinajas.
The site is located 4 km (2.4 miles) from Samo Alto, in the Chilean commune of Río Hurtado, featuring cave paintings and petroglyphs linked to the Molle culture, a pre-Hispanic civilization from 2,000 years ago. This location is suitable for learning about astronomy.
The activity consists of a 200-meter (656 ft) low-difficulty walk. The first hour is dedicated to stargazing using a powerful telescope to observe the night sky. In the second hour, there will be an astrophotography workshop to capture images of the night sky. The experience concludes with a tasting of local specialties, including goat's cheese and wine.
Following the tasting, we will return to your hotel in Ovalle, arriving at midnight.
Pickup
This activity includes pickup from hotels in the center of Ovalle. For those in remote areas, pickup will be at the Plaza de Armas at the indicated time.
