Valle del Encanto Tour

We'll see petroglyphs, stone castings and other remains on this archaeological tour of Valle del Encanto, one of the main archaeological sites in Chile.

Description

After picking you up from your hotel in Ovalle, we'll head to the Valle del Encanto, an important archaeological site from Prehistory about 20 km (12.5 miles) away.

We'll start our visit by observing the petroglyphs of the Valle del Encanto, which may belong to the Molle culture. During the route, we'll learn about this ancient population, whose origins date back over 2,000 years.

As we continue our tour through the Encanto Valley, we'll see remains of stone castings, featuring circular concavities drilled into the rock. These holes may have served for grinding food or had a ceremonial use, according to experts.

Then, we'll walk around the prehistoric site to discover the actual use of the stone castings, the remains of which are found throughout central Chile and its surroundings.

Finally, we'll leave this site and return to your hotel in Ovalle, arriving at 1 pm.
