If you love history and nature, don't miss this day trip to the lakes and basilica of Covadonga, Cangas de Onís and the Asturian Coast.
Description
We'll pick you up at your selected meeting point and travel to the east of the Principality of Asturias to visit the Lakes of Covadonga in the Picos de Europa National Park. The first stop at the Entrelagos viewpoint provides a panoramic view of Lake Ercina and Lake Enol. After learning about their glacial origins, we'll visit the Basilica of Santa María la Real de Covadonga, where we will discuss King Pelayo and the Spanish Reconquest.
Next, we go to the Covadonga Sanctuary, home to the Virgin image known as the Santina, and the Royal Pantheon, where Don Pelayo and other Asturian kings are buried.
We will then proceed to Cangas de Onís for a short guided tour, followed by 2 hours of free time for lunch. You can visit the iconic Roman bridge of Cangas and the Victoria Cross.
For those starting from Oviedo or Gijón, after visiting Cangas, we will go to the coast and stop at the San Roque viewpoint for views of the coast and Lastres, before returning to the meeting points.

Important: Exit from Cangas
Note that if you book from Cangas de Onís, the stop at the San Roque viewpoint will not occur.
