If you love history and nature, don't miss this day trip to the lakes and basilica of Covadonga and Cangas de Onís, along a scenic route on the Asturian coast leading to Lastres.
Day Trip Details
Pickup will be at the designated time in the center of Oviedo. The trip includes visiting the famous Lakes of Covadonga within the Picos de Europa National Park. The first stop is at the Entrelagos viewpoint for panoramic views of Lake Ercina and Lake Enol. After learning about their glacial origin, we proceed to the Basilica of Santa María la Real de Covadonga, where historical insights about King Pelayo and the Spanish Reconquest will be shared.
Next, we'll visit the Covadonga Sanctuary to see the cave with the Virgin image known as the Santina and the Royal Pantheon, where the remains of Don Pelayo and other Asturian kings rest. Following this, we head to Cangas de Onís for a guided tour, after which there are 2 hours of free time for lunch and photos by the iconic Roman bridge, including the Victoria Cross.
The trip continues to Lastres for a guided tour of the town, returning to the original meeting point after 12 hours.
