Details of the Day Trip

At the arranged time, you will be collected from the specified meeting point and venture eastward to explore one of the most stunning regions of Asturias: Covadonga. Our journey to this emblematic location in the Principality of Asturias will be in a minibus, accommodating a small group of up to 8 participants.

Your adventure begins at Ercina Lake, nestled within the Picos de Europa National Park. Thanks to the compact size of our vehicle, we can journey closer to the lakes, eliminating the need for long walks. From the Entrelagos viewpoint, you can take in the magnificent scenery of Covadonga's lakes and their breathtaking alpine backdrop.

Next, we will proceed to The Holy Cave of Covadonga, home to the revered figure of La Santina and the remains of Don Pelayo, the foundational monarch of the Asturian monarchy. The surroundings of this cave are truly awe-inspiring.

After delving into the historical significance of the cave and the notable events associated with it, along with the vital role of the Virgin of Covadonga among Asturians, we’ll visit the Basilica of Santa María la Real, renowned for being a prime example of neo-Romanesque architecture in Spain.

Concluding this small-group adventure, our final stop will be at Cangas de Onís. Upon arrival, we will explore the iconic Roman bridge, followed by approximately 1 hour of free time for you to wander and possibly enjoy a meal.

We will then make our way back to the departure point, with an estimated arrival time of around 8 hours from the start.
