Covadonga Day Trip (Small Group)

Description

At the designated time, we'll pick you up from the Oviedo train station and head east to visit one of the most special corners of Asturias: Covadonga. We will travel to this iconic location by minibus, in a small group with a maximum of 8 people.

We will first go to Ercina Lake, located in the heart of Picos de Europa National Park. Our small vehicle allows us to get closer to the lakes without long walks. We will admire views from the Entrelagos viewpoint, which offers sights of the famous lakes of Covadonga and surrounding alpine landscapes.

Next, we will visit the Holy Cave of Covadonga, home to the image of La Santina and the remains of Don Pelayo, the first king of the Asturian monarchy.

Following the history of the cave and its significance, we will proceed to the Basilica of Santa María la Real in Covadonga, an example of neo-Romanesque architecture in Spain.

We will then go to Cangas de Onis, where you will have an hour of free time to enjoy local gastronomy in nearby restaurants. Our tour will conclude with a visit to the Roman Bridge and the Santa Cruz chapel.

This reduced-group tour will end with our return to Oviedo after a total of 8 hours.
