Hacienda Chimalpa & Zempoala Convent Day Trip
This day trip includes a visit to the Hacienda Chimalpa, famous for its pulque production, and the Zempoala Convent, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You will be picked up from your hotel in Pachuca at the indicated time and will travel to one of Hidalgo's renowned pulque haciendas. Pulque dates back to the year 200, originating from the fermentation of the maguey plant and is a traditional Mexican liquor.
At Hacienda Chimalpa, you will explore their maguey plantations and view the main building, monumental church, and colonial-style chapel. Facilities like Trojes Hall and the Ruedo, where equestrian shows are held, will also be included in the visit.
The tour will proceed with a stop at the Padre Tembleque Aqueduct, a significant hydraulic engineering structure from the 16th century during the Viceroyalty of New Spain.
Next, you will reach Zempoala Convent, also known as the Todos los Santos Convent. This Plateresque building features an elegant façade and is part of the Hydraulic System of the Aqueduct of Padre Tembleque, which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The visit will include the temple, chapel, atrium, and historical insights into the Franciscan order responsible for its construction.
Before returning to Pachuca, there will be a lunch stop in the village of Zempoala. The entire trip lasts approximately 10 hours, concluding with your return to the hotel.
