Learn where pulque, a traditional Mexican drink, comes from on our day trip to the Hacienda Chimalpa and the Zempoala Convent, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Hacienda Chimalpa & Zempoala Convent Day Trip

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Pachuca at the scheduled time and head to one of the most renowned pulque haciendas in Hidalgo. Pulque, made from the fermentation of the maguey plant, has been part of Indigenous writings since around the year 200.

During our visit to Hacienda Chimalpa, you will learn about the work done there and the maguey plantations. We will see the main building, the monumental church, and a colonial-style chapel. The ranch has facilities such as Trojes Hall and Ruedo, used for equestrian shows.

Next, we will visit the Padre Tembleque Aqueduct, a significant hydraulic engineering achievement built in the 16th century during the Viceroyalty of New Spain.

Afterward, we will proceed to Zempoala Convent (also known as the Todos los Santos Convent), notable for its Plateresque-style façade with segmental arches and columns. Together with the aqueduct, it is part of the Hydraulic System of the Aqueduct of Padre Tembleque, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will explore the temple, chapel, and atrium while learning about the history of the Franciscan order.

We'll conclude with a stop in the village of Zempoala for lunch on your own before returning to Pachuca. Drop-off will be approximately 10 hours after pickup.
