On this day trip to Famagusta from Paphos, we will cross the Green Line to enter the Turkish side of Cyprus and visit the monastery of St. Barnabas, home to the apostle's tomb.
Description
We will pick you up from your hotel in Paphos at the scheduled time and head to our destination, with a stop at Choirokitia for refreshments.
Upon crossing the Green Line, we will arrive at the monastery of St. Barnabas to explore the museum housing valuable icons and religious relics, and to visit the tomb of St. Barnabas.
Next, we will proceed to the ruins of Salamis, notable for its amphitheater and gymnasium, followed by travel to Famagusta.
In Famagusta, we will walk around the Venetian-era walls and observe the Gothic architecture of its religious temples, including the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, which was built in 1312 and later converted into a mosque. Following this, you will have free time for lunch and shopping in Famagusta.
Finally, we will return to Paphos, making a stop at the ghost town of Varosi to view its abandoned houses and beach. We will drop you off back at your hotel in Paphos approximately eleven hours after pickup.
