- 2/10 | 1 Bewertung
Book this ticket to the archaeological site of Palenque and explore the culture and lifestyle of the Maya people.
Description
Your ticket to the archaeological site of Palenque allows you to explore the ancient Maya city of Lakam Ha', whose origins date back to the 3rd century BC. After wars led to its abandonment, the city was forgotten until rediscovered in the jungle. Today, it exemplifies Maya urban planning and architecture.
Within the site, notable monuments include the Temple of the Inscriptions, a stepped pyramid standing almost 25 metres (82 feet) high, where Maya king K'inich Janaab' Pakal was buried. Other significant temples include the Temple of the Cross, Temple of the Sun, Temple of the Skull, and the Tomb of the Red Queen. At the Great Palace, visitors can view well-preserved reliefs and the observation tower for sunset viewings, all set in a lush jungle environment.
