Visit Palermo's Three Most Beautiful Churches
Our meeting point is the Palermo Quattro Canti Hotel, where we'll set off on a tour that reveals the beauty of three of Palermo's churches.
First is the Church of San Giuseppe dei Teatini, the most visited church in Palermo, featuring frescoes that exemplify Sicilian baroque art, along with two holy water fountains sculpted by Ignazio Marabitti.
A short walk takes us to the Church of Santa Caterina, dedicated to St. Catherine of Alexandria, which combines late Renaissance features on its facade with a baroque interior. We will admire its choir, main altar, chapels, and frescoes while exploring the history of this convent church.
Our final stop is the Church of Gesù, also known as Casa Professa. The austere exterior of this 17th-century Jesuit church contrasts with its ornate interior, filled with sculptures, polychrome inlays, marble ornaments, and frescoes. We will share details about the building and its challenges post-World War II.
After three hours of exploration, we will conclude the guided tour with a farewell outside the Church of Santa Caterina.
