Tour Details
We'll meet in front of the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, at Piazza Guiseppe Verdi, 3, to start a tour dedicated to civil mobilisation against organised crime.
After observing the Teatro Massimo, we'll head to Piazza Beati Paoli, linked to the secret sect in Luigi Natoli's novel. We'll discuss the alleged connection between the sect and Cosa Nostra before proceeding to the Mercato del Capo, which reportedly has hidden paths used by the Beati Paoli.
Next, we will visit Piazza della Memoria, home to a memorial for magistrates killed by the Mafia. Following this, we'll go to Palermo Cathedral to explore the relationship between the Mafia and the Church, including the story of Don Pino Puglisi.
Passing the Town Hall, once a symbol of the link between Cosa Nostra and politics, we will arrive at Piazza Magione, in the Kalsa Arab quarter, where Falcone and Borsellino grew up.
During the tour, we will also observe the "Pago chi non paga" (I pay those who don't pay) logos in shops resisting racket pressure, supported by the Addiopizzo Committee.
The tour lasts three hours and concludes at the Fontana Pretoria.
