On this tour into Palermo's catacombs, you'll see the remains of hundreds of mummies and explore the history of Sicily's capital city.

About Palermo's Capuchin Catacombs

The Palermo Catacombs are composed of interconnected galleries in volcanic rock, covering approximately 300 square meters (3230 square feet). They contain around 2,000 skeletons and mummified bodies, including the Count of Cagliostro.

Mummies are arranged in galleries based on gender, social status, and profession. The oldest corridor features Capuchin Friars in their traditional garments, with a room dedicated to priests in religious robes. Other sections include the women's corridor, Chapel of the Crucifix for young virgin women, men's corridor, Chapel of the Children, and corridor of families.
