If you're in Palma, we recommend grabbing tickets to the Palace of La Almudaina, a site rich in Mallorca's history.
Why Visit the Palace of La Almudaina?
Located across from the Palma Cathedral, the Royal Palace of La Almudaina is a significant historical monument in Mallorca's capital. A ticket allows you to explore this building, which serves as the Spanish royal family's official summer residence, although the royal household usually resides at the Palace of Marivent during the summer. La Almudaina is still used for events such as the annual reception for representatives of Balearic high society.
The palace originated as an ancient Arab fortress and was later transformed into the headquarters for the Mallorcan monarchs by the Catholic monarchs. The Gothic Hall, used to receive ambassadors, is one of its notable rooms. Visitors should also see the Patio of Honour and the remains of the Arab baths, featuring different temperature rooms. Additionally, the palace contains the Chapel of Santa Ana, built by King Jaime II in the 14th century.
