During the booking process, you can select from various activities available upon arrival in the Huasteca Potosina region. Each tour spans 13 hours, commencing at 7 am, inclusive of hotel collection and drop-off, transportation via minibus, the guidance of a Spanish-speaking expert, and lunch.
Tamtoc and the Origins of Tanchipa
We will make our way to Tamuin, where we will explore the Tamtoc archaeological site, a historical settlement of the Huastecan people. The site is home to an array of funerary structures, sculptures, stelae, and murals, illustrating the significant position of the female figure in this vital cultural environment.
Next, we will visit the birthplace of the Tanchipa River, where you can gaze at the local grottoes that give rise to the crystal-clear waters. It’s a true oasis!
Minas Viejas and Micos Waterfalls
This adventure leads us to the Minas Viejas waterfalls, hidden on the fringe of El Naranjo. These cascades drop from a height of 50 meters (164 feet) into a stunning natural pool with vibrant turquoise waters. Don't hesitate to dive in for a refreshing swim!
Afterwards, we proceed to Micos, which is part of the seven waterfalls that surpass 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) in height. Here you have the opportunity to try waterfall jumping if you're looking for a thrill!
Salto and Meco Waterfalls
This water adventure begins at the Salto waterfall, where a magnificent cascade of 70 meters (229 feet) awaits. Take a dip in the serene waters for a rejuvenating experience!
Following this, we'll make our way to the Meco lookout point, offering breathtaking views of the 30-meter (98-foot) waterfall. From there, we’ll board a canoe to approach the waterfall directly. For those feeling courageous, there’s the chance to leap from the rocks into the tranquil waters below.
Tamasopo and Puente de Dios
This itinerary allows us to reach the outskirts of Tamasopo, where we’ll discover the natural beauty surrounding Puente de Dios, a stunning grotto encircled by waterfalls and lush jungle. We will wander through the grotto, looking for beams of golden sunlight breaking through small openings, creating a picturesque atmosphere.
Shortly after, we’ll visit the Tamasopo waterfalls, and if you’re feeling particularly adventurous, you can try vine-swinging into the pristine waters below.
Xilitla and Sótano de las Golondrinas
This excursion transports us to Xilitla, a Magical Village nestled within the Edward James Surrealist Garden. We will wander through this enchanting area to discover structures resembling giant flowers, spiral staircases, Gothic arches, and unfinished edifices intertwined with the jungle foliage.
Afterwards, we return to Xilitla to appreciate the colonial architecture and observe the lively atmosphere in the main square. Our next stop is the Golondrinas Basement, an astounding 512-meter (1,679-foot) deep karst cave.
Mantetzulel Caves and Huichihuayan Springs
For cave enthusiasts, this day trip to the Mantetzulel Caves is a must. Enveloped by trees and medicinal plants, we first explore the Holy Spirit Grotto, where stunning stalactites and stalagmites form from the rock walls and floors. Next, we will delve into the Luz del Sol Cave, which features a distinct chamber where sunlight filters gently through. Our exploration concludes at El Aguacatillo Cave.
Additionally, we will have the opportunity to swim in the cave that marks the beginning of the Huichihuayan River.
