Tour Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet inside the Tourist Office of Papeete to begin our journey through the capital of French Polynesia. Our first stop will be at Bougainville Park, where we'll learn about the history of Tahiti and the exploits of Captain Bougainville along with other explorers and missionaries.
NEXT, we will visit the Assembly of French Polynesia to explore Tahiti’s political past and present. This includes the roles of chiefs, monarchs, and the evolution of governance affecting the island.
Then, we'll proceed to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Papeete, where we will examine the island's religious history, highlighting the arrival of Protestantism and the establishment of the iconic Catholic Cathedral.
Next is the lively Municipal Market, a hub of Tahitian culture with flower stalls, artisan crafts, and food markets. Finally, we will visit the impressive Papeete Town Hall, showcasing colonial architecture influenced by French designs.
We will conclude our tour with a stroll through Papeete’s streets before returning to the starting point, totaling 2 hours.
