Tour Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet inside the Tourist Office of Papeete to begin our journey through the capital of French Polynesia.
Our first stop will be at Bougainville Park, where we'll learn about the history of Tahiti and the influence of Captain Bougainville and early explorers. We'll explore their interactions with Tahiti’s indigenous people.
From there, we'll proceed to the Assembly of French Polynesia, discussing Tahiti’s political evolution through the roles of chiefs, monarchs, and various governments, providing insight into the island's political scene.
Next, we'll visit the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Papeete and the Catholic Cathedral, where we'll delve into the island's religious history, including the arrival of Protestantism and Christianity, and the establishment of significant religious sites.
Then, we head to the Municipal Market, witnessing the vibrant local culture through flower stalls, artisan crafts, and food markets.
Our final stop is the Papeete Town Hall, showcasing colonial architecture and reflecting French colonial influence in Tahiti.
The tour concludes with a stroll through the streets of Papeete, returning to the starting point after a total of 2 hours.
