Tour Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet inside the Tourist Office of Papeete to begin our journey through the capital of French Polynesia.
Our first stop will be at Bougainville Park, where we'll dive into the intriguing history of Tahiti. We'll hear the story of Captain Bougainville and other explorers and missionaries who played a role in the island's past. We'll learn how their encounters with Tahiti’s indigenous people impacted the island.
From there, we'll visit the Assembly of French Polynesia to explore Tahiti’s political past and present, examining the roles of chiefs, monarchs, and various governments throughout the years, revealing the dynamics of power and decision-making on the island.
Next, we'll visit the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Papeete, home to the iconic Catholic Cathedral. Here, we will explore the island's religious history, tracing the journey of Christianity from the first missionaries to significant religious landmarks.
Then, we’ll head to the vibrant Municipal Market, where we’ll experience local life through the flower stalls, artisan crafts, and food markets.
Our final destination is the Papeete Town Hall, an example of colonial architecture. We'll appreciate its grand façade, reflecting French colonial influence in Tahiti.
We'll conclude our tour with a stroll through the streets of Papeete before returning to the starting point, totaling 2 hours.
