On this hiking route through the Irritilas petroglyphs, we will explore a territory that houses ancestral traces of incalculable value in Mexican history.
Description
At the designated time, we will meet at Amado Nervo, 102, in Parras de la Fuente. Once gathered, we will begin our walk along the trails leading to learn about the ancient Mexican sun culture. After a 20-minute drive, we will reach the surroundings of San Francisco del Progreso and continue our exploration.
During the walking route, we will discuss the different types of petroglyphs in the area, including abstract designs, geometric patterns, and symbols representing whole bodies, handprints, footprints, animals, and plants.
You will also learn about the Nahuatlaca tribes, who documented their existence in this area through cave paintings.
Lastly, we will stop for a typical appetizer of local gastronomy, featuring gorditas de harina de trigo. We will return to the meeting point between 2.5 and 3 hours after the start of the activity.
