On this hiking route through the Irritilas petroglyphs, we will explore a territory with ancestral traces of significant value in Mexican history.
Description
At the designated time, we will meet at Amado Nervo, 102, in Parras de la Fuente. After gathering, we will start walking along the trails to learn about the history of the ancient Mexican sun culture.
Following a 20-minute drive, we will reach the surroundings of San Francisco del Progreso. Here, we will begin our walk along paths that highlight the symbolisms dedicated to the sun.
During the walking route, we will discuss the different types of petroglyphs in the area, including abstract designs, perfectly geometric figures, and symbols representing whole bodies, handprints, footprints, animals, and plants.
Additionally, participants will learn about the Nahuatlaca tribes, who documented their presence through these cave paintings.
We will conclude with a typical appetizer from local gastronomy, featuring gorditas de harina de trigo.
We will return to the meeting point between 2.5 and 3 hours after the activity begins.
