La Cocha Lagoon & Santa Lucía Wetlands Excursion
At 7:30 am we'll meet at Plaza de Nariño and head to the department of Putumayo. After a 40-minute road trip, we'll arrive at La Cocha Lagoon, the second-largest freshwater reserve in Colombia. We'll admire the natural beauty of this location and go on a hiking route through the town of El Puerto, situated on the shores of the lake. During the hike, we’ll see wooden Swiss-inspired houses.
Following the hike, we'll take a boat ride on La Cocha Lagoon until we reach the Santa Lucía wetlands, protected by the Ramsar Convention. Here we'll stroll through a valley of frailejones, plants peculiar to this ecosystem.
Halfway, we'll stop at a local farm for lunch made with organic products from the farm. Next, we'll visit the community of Torres de Paz, learning about the construction of this historic monument symbolizing harmony.
Finally, we'll return to Pasto, arriving at the departure point at 7:30 pm.
