La Cocha Lagoon, Santa Lucía Wetlands Tour + Guamúes River Fishing
We will gather at 7:30 am in front of the Nariño monument to depart towards La Cocha Lake, the first natural attraction of our itinerary. In less than an hour, we will arrive at this site, the second largest in Colombia.
We will initiate a walk along the path of El Puerto, following the banks of a stream. Next, we will take a boat ride through the Santa Lucia wetlands, a protected area that features the lowest moorlands in the country, situated at 2600 meters (8530 feet) above sea level.
We'll explore paths through the valleys of frailejones, which can grow up to two meters tall, increasing by one centimeter each year. Then, we will visit the village of Santa Isabel for a homemade lunch provided by a local family.
In the afternoon, we will take another boat on the Guámuez River for fishing, a popular local activity, and search for suitable locations to cast our hooks.
Afterwards, we will return to the mainland and have refreshments at a hotel overlooking La Cocha lake. Finally, we will return to Pasto, arriving at the departure point by approximately 7:30 pm.
