Las Lajas Sanctuary + Tulcán Cemetery Tour
We will meet at 10 am in the Plaza de Nariño in Pasco and depart for Ipiales, where the Sanctuary is located.
During the two-hour journey, we will discuss the history of Pasto, including its culture and geography. We will arrive at the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de Las Lajas, a neo-Gothic structure situated atop the Guáitara River canyon. This site is vital for Colombians, who come to pray to the Señora de Las Lajas. Attendees can participate in the mass celebrated in the church and visit the museum to learn about the history of this Catholic site.
Following the sanctuary visit, we will take a cable car across the Guáitara canyon for panoramic views. Next, we will enter Ecuador to explore the Tulcán Cemetery, known for its gardens with sculptures shaped from the bushes.
We will conclude the tour with free time at a nearby shopping center before returning to Pasto, arriving at the departure point around 8 pm.
