Day 2: Discovering Beijing
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we'll set off to visit some of the most notable sites in the Chinese capital. Our journey begins at Tiananmen Square, recognized as the largest square globally, which hosts significant political gatherings. From this iconic location, we'll explore additional landmarks, leading us to the Forbidden City—the impressive Imperial Palace that served as the residence of Chinese emperors until 1911.
A break for lunch will follow, lasting approximately one and a half hours, at a quintessential local restaurant. Post-lunch, we’ll navigate through the historic Hutong streets of Beijing before heading to Jingshan Park.
Your day will conclude at 5:30 pm, returning to the hotel, allowing you some time to prepare for dinner and explore Beijing's nightlife.
Day 3: The Great Wall of China - Beijing
Your day will commence with a pick-up from your hotel at 8:00 am, as we embark towards one of China's most esteemed landmarks: the Great Wall of China. We will ascend to the famed Mutianyu section via cable car, offering breathtaking aerial views of one of the Seven Modern Wonders of the World.
At 12:30 pm, lunch will be at a local restaurant, followed by our return journey to Beijing. Along the way, we’ll stop by the National Stadium (commonly known as the Bird's Nest) and the National Aquatics Centre, referred to as the Water Cube. Both structures were constructed for the 2008 Olympic Games. We will wrap up the day by 5:30 pm.
Day 4: Transition from Beijing to Shanghai
Following breakfast, we will proceed to the Beijing train station to board a high-speed train to Shanghai, with the journey taking around five and a half hours. Upon arrival, our guide will meet you at the station and escort you to your hotel, where you’ll enjoy the remainder of your day at leisure.
Day 5: Experiencing Shanghai
We will convene at 9:00 am in your hotel and travel to Shanghai's historic center. Here, you'll admire the unique 1960s architecture embodied in the traditional Shikumen buildings, popularly known as the "Stone Houses," which elegantly combine Eastern and Western designs.
Next, we’ll visit the Yu Garden, a classic Chinese garden crafted by the Ming dynasty during the 16th century. Lunch will follow at a local restaurant.
After lunch, around 1:30 pm, we will continue our exploration along Shanghai's Old Street, dotted with quaint shops for souvenirs. A stroll along the Bund will provide stunning views of the Oriental Pearl Tower, where we'll have the chance to ascend the tower's first and second spheres. To conclude the day, we will visit the Shanghai History Museum to delve into the rich history of the city.
By around 5:30 pm, you’ll be returned to your hotel.
Day 6: Shanghai
After breakfast, we’ll embark on our first stop to Zhujiajiao, a serene Water Town that showcases traditional architecture and a rich history. This enchanting area, over 400 years old, was once a nexus for trade and transport. You will have free time to explore the vibrant streets or enjoy a boat ride through the canals.
Lunch will be at a local restaurant, after which we will return to your hotel in Shanghai.
