Immerse yourself in the gastronomy, heritage, and traditions of Beijing with an evening that features a traditional meal followed by a Peking opera performance at the Liyuan Theater Hotel.

Activity Overview

At the designated time, proceed to the Liyuan Theater, where a traditional meal awaits you, complemented by an opera performance in Beijing. Let's embark on this journey!

During approximately an hour and a half, relish a classic Beijing dinner, which may include soup, chicken, prawns, or meat stir-fry alongside vegetables and rice. If your group exceeds four individuals, you may also have the opportunity to savor Peking duck.

Following the meal, you will gain insights into the character preparation process of the performers prior to the show. This will lead into an hour-long opera performance. Did you know that this art form emerged in Beijing in the late 18th century? It features a rich blend of music, singing, mime, dance, and acrobatics, all presented by artists dressed in intricate costumes.

Each opera narrative unfolds around four primary roles: sheng (male), dan (young female), jing (male with painted face), and chou (clown, male or female). These characters embody themes of loyalty, betrayal, beauty, and villainy, among others.

After three hours of exploration, the experience will conclude in Beijing. Until next time!

Timing Information

The dinner service starts at 5:30 pm, with entry to the opera house opening at 7 pm, followed by the performance beginning at 7:30 pm. The cumulative duration of this entire activity spans 3.5 hours.
