With your tickets to the Temple of the Lamas, also known as Yonghe Palace, you'll visit one of the most important Tibetan Buddhist sanctuaries in the world.
Lama Temple, a Buddhist Gem in Beijing
The Yonghe Palace, better known as the Temple of the Lamas, is a unique complex in Beijing, considered the most significant Tibetan Buddhist sanctuary outside Tibet. With your ticket to the Temple of the Lamas, you can spend around 2 hours exploring its sacred courtyards while admiring the architectural details of the pavilions.
We recommend visiting the Wanfu Ge Pavilion, which houses a majestic statue of Maitreya, the future Buddha. The sculpture is 18 meters tall and was carved from a single piece of sandalwood. The Temple of the Lamas, dating back to the 17th century, was built for Prince Yongzhen and later became an important monastery for Lama monks. You can explore the traditional buildings, including the famous incense burners.
