Come and see the pride and joy of Castellón on our San José Caves Day Trip from Peniscola. You'll admire the geological beauty of this stunning spot, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on foot and by boat.
San José Caves Day Trip
At the designated time, we'll meet in front of the Peniscola Tourist Office and kick off our San José Caves Day Trip. We'll drive 65 miles (105 kilometers) in the minibus to these caves located in Vall de Uxó, within the Sierra Espadán Natural Park.
The San José caves were inhabited over 15,000 years ago. You'll learn about this during a boat trip through the caves' interior and sail along the longest underground river in Europe. The total depth of the caves remains unknown.
From our boat, we'll see stalactites and stalagmites on the walls of the Vall de Uxó caves and walk through an 820-foot (250 meter) long gallery. The temperature in the cave is a consistent 20ºC throughout the year.
After 40 minutes of exploring and learning about the geological features, we'll return to ground level. We will then head back to Peniscola, with a total duration of 5 to 6 hours.
