Come and see the pride and joy of Castellón on our San José Caves Day Trip from Peniscola. You'll admire the geological beauty of this stunning spot, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on foot and by boat.
San José Caves Day Trip
At the designated time, we'll meet in front of the Peniscola Tourist Office and kick off our San José Caves Day Trip. We'll drive 65 miles (105 kilometres) in the minibus to these caves, located in Vall de Uxó, within the Sierra Espadán Natural Park.
The San José caves were inhabited over 15,000 years ago. You'll learn numerous facts while we take a boat trip through the caves' interior and sail along the longest underground river in Europe. The total depth of this location is still unknown, as speleologists have not yet calculated it.
From our boat, we'll see the stalactites and stalagmites on the walls of the Vall de Uxó caves. We'll also walk through an 820-foot (250 metre) long gallery. The temperature in the cave remains constant at 20ºC throughout the year.
After 40 minutes of exploring the caves and learning about their geological features, we'll return to ground level. We will then head back to Peniscola, arriving after a total of 5 or 6 hours.
