San José Caves Day Trip

At the designated time, we'll meet in front of the Peniscola Tourist Office and start our San José Caves Day Trip. We'll drive 65 miles (105 kilometres) to these caves located in Vall de Uxó, within the Sierra Espadán Natural Park.

San José caves were inhabited over 15,000 years ago. During the boat trip through the caves, you'll sail along the longest underground river in Europe. The total depth of this area remains unmeasured by speleologists.

From the boat, we'll view the stalactites and stalagmites within the Vall de Uxó caves, and we'll also walk through a 820-foot (250 metre) long gallery. The cave maintains a constant temperature of 20ºC throughout the year.

After 40 minutes of exploring and learning about the caves' geological features, we will return to ground level. The trip will conclude with our return to Peniscola, where we will arrive after a total of 5 to 6 hours.
