Venture into Colombia's coffee-growing region to explore Filandia and Salento, and hike in the Cocora Valley, a natural paradise.
Description
After hotel pickup, we will drive from Pereira for 50 minutes through the Colombian coffee region.
Our first stop is Cocora Valley, known for its diverse greenery. We will walk through the valley and learn about the Wax Palm, visiting 3 different viewpoints to enjoy scenic landscapes.
Next, we will have lunch before heading to Salento, an Antioquian-style town with vibrant streets and colorful facades. We will explore its houses and balconies until we reach Calle Real, the town's center.
As we walk, we will discover the Camino del Quindío, a historic route between Cartago and Ibagué, and learn about the Camino del Quindío Festival.
The best panoramic views of Salento can be seen from the Alto de la Cruz viewpoint. Afterwards, we will visit La Colina Iluminada for views of Quindio, before heading to Filandia for a 2-hour guided tour.
We will explore Filandia's streets, including la calle del Tiempo Detenido, and visit Central Park and the Templo María Inmaculada church. We will also learn about basket weaving and visit the Museo de los Abuelos.
