Venture into Colombia's coffee-growing region to explore Filandia and Salento. Also, get your backpack ready for a walk in the Cocora Valley, a natural, green paradise. Three special places in one day!
Description
After picking you up at your hotel, we'll leave Pereira for a 50-minute drive through the Colombian coffee region.
Our first destination will be Cocora Valley, known for the "secret of the thousand greens". In this natural paradise, we'll walk among various shades of greenery and discover the story of the Princess Cocora.
We will visit 3 different viewpoints to learn about the Wax Palm and admire the landscape.
After lunch, we will head to Salento, an Antioquian-style town with lively streets and colorful facades. We will explore the houses and balconies until we arrive at the Calle Real, the heart of the town.
As we walk, we'll find the Camino del Quindío, which connects Cartago and Ibagué. The Camino del Quindío Festival features locals reenacting historical characters.
The best panoramic views of Salento are from the Alto de la Cruz viewpoint. Afterwards, we will visit La Colina Iluminada for views of Quindio before heading to Filandia for a 2-hour guided tour.
We will walk through Filandia, visiting the Street of Stopped Time and the Central Park, a hub for coffee farmers. We will also see the Templo María Inmaculada church and the Museo de los Abuelos.
Finally, we will return to Pereira to conclude the 9-hour tour.
