History, crafts and folklore await on our day trip to Guática and Quinchía. We'll depart from Pereira and visit two municipalities that represent Risaralda's culture on this excursion.
Guática & Quinchía Day Trip
At 7:30 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Pereira and set off for the northern part of the Risaralda region. After a 2-hour drive in our jeep, we will arrive at our first destination, Quinchía or "Villa de los Cerros".
Upon arrival, we'll explore the town and visit the Tierras de Xixaraca Archaeological Museum. Here, we will observe a significant collection of Quimbaya artefacts and learn about the beliefs of local Indigenous communities.
Next, we will visit a filigree workshop where local craftsmen will demonstrate their techniques for this unique metalwork typical of Quinchía.
After lunch, featuring a traditional regional dish and a drink, we will head to Guática. This town is recognized for its rich folklore, and we will learn about the production of silk, a characteristic local product.
In the workshop, we will learn about mulberry tree planting, as silkworms feed on their leaves. We will also understand how the material is processed and used to create fabrics by local artisans. Afterwards, there will be time to purchase souvenirs.
We will return to Pereira and aim to drop you off at your hotel by around 4:30 pm.
Tour without lunch
If you'd prefer to bring your own lunch, this option allows you to dine independently before we visit Guática.
