Discover the secrets of Colombian cacao and admire the colonial architecture of Marsella's most representative buildings with this excursion from Pereira.
Marsella Excursion
After picking you up at your hotel in Pereira at 7:30 am, we will head north towards the town of Marsella, traveling through the coffee plantations of the Cauca River Valley in a 4x4 vehicle.
Upon arrival in Marsella about an hour later, we will visit a local farm, where we'll be welcomed with an appetizer of patacones con hogao, fried plantains with a sauce made from organic products from their garden.
We will walk through the farm's fields of cacao trees and learn about the artisanal process of making organic chocolate, from the seed to the finished drink, witnessing the extraction, roasting, and grinding of cacao beans.
This process will culminate in a delicious chocolate drink served alongside a typical lunch like sancocho (chicken and vegetables), all prepared with products from the farm.
After lunch, we will proceed to the town of Marsella for a coffee stop in the main square, where we will admire the colonial architecture, including the Casa de la Cultura, which houses a museum declared an Asset of Cultural Heritage.
We will also visit the Botanical Garden and the José María Cemetery, both popular attractions in Marsella.
Finally, we will return to Pereira and drop you off at your hotel at 4:30 pm.
